Windows XP SP2

APT Professional may not work as expected under Windows XP Service Pack 2

Symptoms: On a computer that is running Microsoft Windows XP with Service Pack 2 (SP2) installed, APT Professional may not work as expected. The APT function centre will appear in the system tray, however in the browser window you will receive an error message saying that a connection cannot be established or a server cannot be found.

Cause: This problem occurs because APT Professional connects to a loopback address other than 127.0.0.1. Windows XP Service Pack 2 (SP2) prevents connections to all IP addresses that are in the loopback address range except for 127.0.0.1.

Resolution: This is a known issue with SP2 that can be rectified by downloading this patch from the Microsoft Download Centre.
