Managing Projects Using the APT Methodology
Two Day Training Course

Course Objectives

The aim of this two day course is to provide an overview of the APT Methodology with practical exercises simulating planning and managing a project using the methodology. This course teaches the fundamentals of project management and how using a methodology introduces standards and likeness between projects.

Students gain hands-on experience in using the APT Methodology to plan and manage their projects in an effective and repeatable manner. The exercises demonstrate the use of the Methodology throughout a major project, from initial planning and feasibility, through to implementation and review. Particular emphasis is placed on existing or future projects at the students workplace.

  • Use of a phased approach and its advantages
  • APT Phases and their objectives
  • The roles and responsibilities of project participants
  • The use of APT Professional, Online and Corporate
  • Modifying the standard template documents and linking them to the methodology
  • Using User Defined Tasks to tailor the APT Methodology to your processes and templates
  • Exporting your activity plan to MS Project
  • Creating a Project Execution Plan and on-going maintenance
  • Phase reviews and estimate updating
  • Project closure

The course is designed for people responsible for introducing project management standards and methods into an organisation's projects. It is ideal for first time users of the methodology with little or no project management experience.
